Often used as a way of promoting health as well as fighting disease, the goal is to bring about a change in the medical condition or a change in the body itself. Many individuals with persistent pain find that treatment options are often limited, particularly if they cannot tolerate analgesics, such as aspirin, or other medications to relieve the pain. In many of these situations, acupuncture may be a reasonable alternative. Acupuncture, in fact, is particularly useful in decreasing pain levels to the point where the patient can participate in a physical therapy or exercise program, and return to a more active lifestyle. In fact, many patients fall asleep during their treatment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can I catch a disease from the needles?<\/strong><br \/>\nImpossible &#8211; the needles are sterile, disposable and used only once.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How long does a treatment take?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe actual treatment time is approximately 20 minutes. This can vary depending upon the condition being treated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is Acupuncture covered by insurance?<\/strong><br \/>\nWhile some plans do cover acupuncture, the majority do not. It is best to contact your insurance company directly for more information.
