Western State Hospital
A strong academic-public training partnership with experiences across a wide range of adult public psychiatry, with special units for forensic and medically ill patients. In 2014, the hospital moved into a brand new state-of-the-art psychiatric facility. Residents and students find this experience rewarding and uniformly give high marks to the teaching program.
Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents (CCCA)
An inpatient psychiatric hospital with two units for adolescents and two units for children that serves as a training site for PGY-2 residents and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows.
Region Ten Community Services
A community mental health center that serves as a training site for residents across a variety of programs: Crisis Stabilization, Substance Abuse, PACT, and Outpatient Community Mental Health experiences. A variety of experiences both in Charlottesville and some of the surrounding counties, allowing for experiences in both urban and rural mental health care.
U.Va Student Health Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
Residents have the option of training here in the fourth year on a longitudinal basis, working with the college student population in providing medication management, psychotherapy, combined treatment, and group psychotherapy across a variety of populations.
