Adult ADHD Clinic

UVA Hospital Overview

The Adult ADHD clinic serves patients aged 18 and older who have long-standing difficulties with executive function, inattention, and hyperactivity/impulsivity symptoms. We evaluate if these symptoms and relevant history meet criteria for ADHD or point to other directions for mental health treatment for similarly presenting disorders (e.g., anxiety, mood disorders, sleep concerns, post-traumatic stress disorder). If a diagnosis of ADHD is met, we will recommend evidence-based treatments. While evidence-based treatments include medication, psychological treatments, and environmental/behavioral modifications, we are a medication-based clinic only.

We are also available for consultation only, meaning that we do not have the capacity to follow patients indefinitely, and they will transfer back to a prescriber to continue treatment of psychiatric conditions. If you already have been diagnosed with ADHD, we can advise on ongoing management.
