Scierotherapy for Ovarian Endometrioma

Dr. Shin’s lecture introduced a non-surgical, catheter-based approach to treating ovarian endometrioma. The procedure involves complete aspiration of the contents followed by alcohol scierotherapy, and is a safe and effective method that prioritizes the preservation of ovarian function.
16 years ago, Dr. Shin was the first Korean interventional radiologist to do his sabbatical at UVA! Since then, he has risen to professor of radiology at ASAN Medical Center, the largest hospital in Korea, and is president of the Korean Society of Interventional Radiology. Since his initial time in Charlottesville, the department has had over 10 interventional radiologists from Korea spend their sabbatical year at UVA.
