In May, UVA Professor Craig H. Meyer, PhD, received a Gold Medal honor from International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine at their annual meeting.
Dr. Meyer is a professor of Biomedical Engineering and Radiology at the University of Virginia. His research uses tools in physics, signal processing, image reconstruction, and machine learning in order to develop MRI techniques for rapid image acquisition and processing in the setting of cardiovascular disease, neural diseases, and pediatrics.
Dr. Meyer received the ISMRM’s award during their annual meeting in Capetown, South Africa from May 9 to 14. The organization noted Dr. Meyer’s work in “pioneering scientific contributions in the areas of spiral k-space scanning, spectral-spatial excitation for water and fat excitation, and cardiovascular MRI.”
The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine is an international nonprofit scientific association that aims to promote communication, research, development, and applications in the field of magnetic resonance in medicine and biology and other related topics, as well as to develop and provide channels and facilities for continuing education in the field. Its multidisciplinary membership of over 8,000 consists of clinicians, physicists, engineers, biochemists, and technologists.
