UVA Radiology Interventional Radiology resident Alex Campbell IV, MD, PhD, has been chosen to take part in the American Board of Medical Specialties Scholars Program.
Established in 2014, the one-year, part-time program supports early-career physicians and researchers with a $15,000 award. Dr. Campbell is one of 23 physicians accepted to the 2026-27 program, where he will explore the intersection of training and AI through his research project, titled “Quantifying Diagnostic Excellence: Utilizing AI Consensus Models on Trainee Preliminary Reports to Optimize Diagnostic Quality and Clinical Feedback for Radiology Residents.” Dr. Campbell’s project is co-sponsored by the American Board of Radiology.
This ABMS Scholars cohort begins in September 2026, and their term will culminate at the ABMS Conference 2027, when they will present their research findings before a national audience. To learn more about the program, click here.
