Viknesh Kasthuri, MD
The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
IR-Integrated
Hi! I’m Viknesh Kasthuri, and I’m originally from Richland, Washington. I completed both my undergraduate education and medical school in Rhode Island before coming to UVA after an amazing experience during my IR away rotation.
From the moment I arrived, I knew UVA was a special place. The culture is incredibly welcoming, and everyone—from the residents to the faculty—made me feel at home. The attendings are leaders in the field, but what impressed me most was how approachable they are and how genuinely invested they are in helping trainees of all levels grow and succeed. As a trauma, transplant, and cancer center, the case variety here is outstanding, and the integrated IR program offers excellent preparation through a benign general surgery intern year, strong diagnostic radiology training, and exceptional clinical IR experience. I’m incredibly grateful to be training here.
Outside the hospital, I enjoy hiking, photography, and reading. I’m excited to continue exploring Charlottesville and all the outdoor adventures nearby, especially in Shenandoah National Park!
