Candidates must have the ability to obtain a license to practice medicine in Virginia. Those wanting to begin a fellowship immediately following the completion of their residency should apply in the late fall/early winter of their third year of radiology residency. Our program is accredited to accept one fellow per year.

Our Division

Our division offers a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services using radioactive materials. Positron emission tomography (PET) is available using the latest technology, PET-CT. PET-CT combines PET and CT in a single machine, which is used to provide information about metabolism linked to CT anatomy in a single exam. PET/CT is available for all approved clinical indications, including oncologic, neurologic, and cardiac. Clinical service is provided at the main hospital as well as the new Emily Couric Cancer Center, directly across the street from the main hospital.

Fellows work with the latest leading edge imaging equipment at both locations. The division also has access to research PET tracers produced by a cyclotron located at UVa’s research facilities in nearby Fontaine Research Park.

Our Commitment

We recognize the personal commitment it takes to extend your formal training and further develop your professional skills. As such, we stand firmly committed to helping each fellow expand their ability to diagnose and treat disease and excel in the dynamic field of nuclear medicine imaging.

Contacts

Sandy Kerns
Senior Education Coordinator
SK9EF@hscmail.mcc.virginia.edu
434-924-9484

Patrice K.
