Sos, MD<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Professor of Radiology, Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Weill Cornell Medical College<\/em><\/h4>\n<p>A specialist in Interventional Radiology, Dr. Thomas A. Sos is widely regarded as one of the world\u2019s top authorities in both renal angioplasty and stenting. Dr. Sos is a pioneer in his field and has designed numerous devices for interventional radiology, including the first micro-catheter, the \u201cSos Open-Ended Guidewire\u201d (Bard, Inc), the first shaped embolization coil, a small vessel PTA catheter, and\u00a0 selective and flush catheters.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sos served as President of SIR (Society of Interventional Radiology)\/SCVIR from 1986-1987 during the society\u2019s early expansion \u2013 an expansion strongly advocated by Dr. Sos. He was instrumental in opening up the Society from a small group of mostly academic interventional radiologists to a much larger, more diverse group that welcomed all individuals who practiced interventional radiology. Dr. Jensen specializes in performing minimally invasive treatments for neurological conditions such as brain aneurysms, stroke, carotid artery disease, intracranial vascular stenosis, brain arteriovenous malformations (AVM) and fistulas (AVF) and spinal disorders, including spinal fractures, arteriovenous malformations and arteriovenous fistulas. She helped pioneer various treatments for cerebral aneurysms, including endovascular coiling techniques. Dr. Jensen also helped develop the first percutaneous vertebroplasty technique in the U.S. used to stabilize spinal compression fractures. He received his M.D. at Boston University School of Medicine and completed residency and fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. As a sought after teacher and educator, Dr. Haskal has given more than 500 invited lectures worldwide and been awarded numerous honorary fellowships, national, international and societal awards for leadership, service and research excellence. He has designed, participated or led more than 40 research trials. Dr. Haskal has also published more than 400 scientific manuscripts, chapters, review, abstracts and editorials in journals ranging from Human Gene Therapy and the New England Journal of Medicine, to Circulation, JVIR, Radiology, Hepatology and more.
