Dr. Reza Daugherty<\/a>, Director of Pediatric Imaging<\/a> at UVA, appeared on the “UVA House Call” segment on NBC 29 on April 17 to speak about advances in imaging technology for pediatric patients with vesicoureteral reflux<\/a> (VUR). Children with this condition, in which urine can flow up from the bladder to the kidneys, are usually screened with x-rays, which exposes them to radiation. UVA is proud to be one of a small number of institutions in the United States offering a new screening procedure using ultrasound with contrast, which is just as accurate but which does not expose children to radiation.<\/p>\n
