Office for Research
It is our mission to initiate, catalyze, and multiply research strategy across the medical school, supporting basic, clinical, and translational research. By facilitating research synergies across the University of Virginia (UVA), we are dedicated to empowering researchers with the resources, guidance, and support needed to drive innovation and advance medical science.
The School of Medicine serves as the backbone for UVA Health, acting as a catalyst for clinical excellence, innovative research, and education of the next generation of health care providers. Learn about our vision for the future in our most recent annual report.
Virginia Clinical Translational Science (VCATS) Program
UVA is launching the Virginia Clinical and Translational Science (VCATS) program, a University-wide initiative linking rigorous clinical research with real-world impact. Supported by the School of Medicine, VCATS will anchor a 2028 NIH CTSA application.
