2018 Digestive Disease Week in Washington, D.C. was a great success this year! DDW is the largest and most prestigious meeting in the world for the GI professional. Every year it attracts approximately 15,000 physicians, researchers and academics from around the world. Oral abstracts represent the top 10% of abstracts submitted to DDW. All 4 abstracts submitted were selected to give talks! Drs. Syed and Luzader gave fantastic presentations regarding their work on machine learning and environmental enteropathy, modulation of the circadian clock by the microbiome, and time-of-day dependent responses to toxin exposure. Additionally, our NICU microbiome collaboration with INOVA, Dr. Pallabi Guha, gave a fascinating talk regarding the microbiome changes associated with TPN-associated cholestasis. Congratulations to everyone. We enjoyed learning more about the GI field and hearing the great work our colleagues are doing to improve gut related health.
