We would like to wish a warm welcome to our second year summer medical students, Jesse Zhou and Michelle Yeghyayan. Jesse will be working with Drs. Moore and Luzader investigate the relationship between the microbiota and the function of the gastrointestinal tract by focusing on how microbiota-produced metabolites influence maturation and the circadian rhythm of the gastrointestinal tract. Michelle will be working with Drs. Syed and Khan to investigate machine learning techniques that will be able to identify diseased versus healthy intestinal tissue using video data from capsule endoscopy studies conducted at UVa. Welcome to lab, Michelle and Jesse!!
