About

The Virginia Center for Diabetes Prevention and Education (VCDPE) has been a unique provider of educational programming in Virginia since 1987. Affiliated with the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, the VCDPE’s programs and resources benefit a range of health professionals throughout the Commonwealth.

Mission:

To provide training and technical assistance to organizations in Virginia and Nationwide that are interested in providing evidence-based Diabetes Prevention Programs and Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support programs.

To improve the quality and accessibility of diabetes education and diabetes prevention programs through collaboration, evidence and innovation.

Goals:

1. Provide Lifestyle Coach Training and technical assistance in the communities we serve.
2. Increase access to diabetes, diabetes prevention and lifestyle education through telehealth in underserved areas in Virginia.
3. Provide professional diabetes prevention and diabetes education programs to health care professionals in Virginia.
4. Increase awareness, build capacity and promote sustainability for diabetes prevention and diabetes self-management programs in Virginia.
5. Build partnership and collaborations through innovation.
