Research Interests

Molecular epidemiology of multidrug resistant gram negative bacilli, laboratory detection of gram negative antibiotic resistance, prevention of acquisition of resistant bacterial pathogens and treatment of multi-drug resistant gram negative bacteria.

Research Description

Evaluation of molecular epidemiology tools and in vitro detection of resistance through translational research at UVA based on a multi-species outbreak of Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) producing organisms.

Through the antimicrobial stewardship program perform evaluation of antibiotic usage and impact on the development of multidrug resistance gram negative bacilli infection.

My main clinical research evaluates the difference in patient outcomes stratified by carbapenem resistance mechanism.
