Admissions
As a student at the UVA School of Medicine, you will join a supportive, learner-focused environment. You will be a member of one of four colleges, each of which has a college dean. Each college is divided into groups of six students, with a faculty coach. You will be in your college from the moment you arrive to the moment you graduate, supporting each other throughout the journey of becoming a physician.
Curriculum
Students at the University of Virginia School of Medicine are engaged and challenged from the first day on Grounds. Our innovative Cells to Society curriculum, provides a comprehensive approach that integrates medical science and practice to teach foundational science in the context of how it is used by physicians in their clinical practice and provides learning experiences across a broad variety of clinical specialties and settings.
Student Affairs
The Office of Student Affairs supports students during medical school and into their careers. The Deans of Student Affairs provide personal, academic, and professional guidance for their students throughout all four years. We facilitate tutorial assistance, disability accommodations, certifications and scheduling and registrar functions. We provide career advising services and support all aspects of the residency match process.
Financial Aid
The UVA Office of Financial Aid strives to make medical school affordable for all students, regardless of their financial need. Our team is available to help students understand the various sources of assistance and help with applying for need-based aid. We also support UVA medical students, alumni, and residents with personal budgeting, debt management, student loan repayment, and comprehensive financial literacy education.
Leadership
The Office of Educational Affairs is led by Meg G. Keeley, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Education. Dr. Keeley oversees all aspects of Undergraduate Medical Education, including the Offices of Admissions, Curriculum, Student Affairs, and Financial Aid, as well as the Clinical Performance Education Center, and the Inova Regional Campus. In addition to undergraduate programs, Dr. Keeley provides leadership for the Biomedical Sciences PhD Programs, Graduate Medical Education, Continuing Medical Education, Public Health degree programs, and the Center for Excellence in Education.
