Admissions

As a student at the UVA School of Medicine, you will join a supportive, learner-focused environment. You will be a member of one of four colleges, each of which has a college dean. Each college is divided into groups of six students, with a faculty coach. You will be in your college from the moment you arrive to the moment you graduate, supporting each other throughout the journey of becoming a physician.

Curriculum

Students at the University of Virginia School of Medicine are engaged and challenged from the first day on Grounds. Our innovative Cells to Society curriculum, provides a comprehensive approach that integrates medical science and practice to teach foundational science in the context of how it is used by physicians in their clinical practice and provides learning experiences across a broad variety of clinical specialties and settings.

Student Affairs

The Office of Student Affairs supports students during medical school and into their careers. The Deans of Student Affairs provide personal, academic, and professional guidance for their students throughout all four years. We facilitate tutorial assistance, disability accommodations, certifications and scheduling and registrar functions. We provide career advising services and support all aspects of the residency match process.

University of Virginia School of Medicine is led by Melina R. Kibbe, MD, Dean and Chief Health Affairs Officer. Dean Kibbe works with a leadership team composed of 5 Senior Associate Deans, a Chief Operating Officer and a Chief of Staff, as well as Clinical Department Chairs and Research Department Chairs, and Center Directors.
