Services Offered by the Continuous Improvement Team
A BeSmart Coach will lead your team through the problem solving process for your opportunity for improvement, using Lean methodologies, and help you develop an Action Plan.
A BeSmart Coach will help guide you through documenting your process utilizing one or more of the following Lean tools: Process Map(s), Swim Lanes, Standard Operating Procedure(s), Check List(s), Decision Tree Map(s), and many other visual documentation tools.
After your team has developed an Action Plan for an opportunity for improvement (potentially with the assistance of a BeSmart Coach), we are available to help lead the implementation of that Action Plan in the role of Project Manager.
If you don’t need a BeSmart Coach to facilitate your team through a continuous improvement event, but still would like some coaching or guidance before undertaking one, a BeSmart Coach is available to provide that service.
If you are implementing a change (whether that be to a process, hierarchy, task ownership, or other), a BeSmart Coach can provide PROSCI Change Management coaching in preparation for this change implementation.
The Continuous Improvement Team offers an array of training opportunities. If you have a training need for a group of 10 or more individuals, we will set up a training session tailored around you and your group’s schedule.

Watch VideosThe primary goal of the School of Medicine Dean’s Office is to make sure that our efforts enable the School’s tri-partite mission of education, research, and clinical care, and benefit the “waiting” patient. It is the patient who is waiting for a cure, the next generation of physicians, or an appointment with a physician who can deliver needed care.
The Dean’s Office employees are focused on improving administrative processes that support the faculty’s work. The BeSmart program creates a meaningful framework for us to utilize Lean methodology for process improvement, standard work, problem solving, and data-driven decision making. This allows us to be more efficient and put limited resources where they can best support our mission.
