Center for Human Therapeutics cGMP Facility

Turning Discovery into Treatment

The Center for Human Therapeutics (CHT) at the University of Virginia advances promising research from the laboratory into clinical practice. Our cGMP-compliant facility supports the manufacturing of biologics and cellular therapies for first-in-human, pilot, and Phase I/II clinical trials.

What We Do

We manufacture and process a broad range of investigational products for human clinical use, including:

  • Cellular and gene therapy products
  • Monoclonal and bispecific antibodies
  • Viral vectors
  • Islet cells for transplantation
  • Solution-phase nanoparticles

Beyond manufacturing, we provide scientific, technical, and regulatory support for investigator-initiated IND applications — helping researchers navigate the path from preclinical data to clinical study.

Areas of Focus

Our work spans cancer — including multiple myeloma, breast, prostate, pancreatic, and brain cancers — as well as a growing range of non-oncology indications such as cardiovascular disease, autoimmune conditions, diabetes, and neurological disorders.

Our Facility

CHT operates a dedicated, multi-use cleanroom complex designed and built to FDA standards for controlled environments and aseptic processing. The facility includes six ISO 7 manufacturing rooms, a controlled-access corridor, and dedicated office and support space.
