How to Mentor Wisely and Well: Stories and Insights from Experienced Mentors in Academic Medicine

Description/learning objectives: This interactive panel discussion brings together a group of accomplished clinical and research mentors to share their experiences, insights, and practical guidance on effective mentoring. Guided by a moderator, panelists will reflect on what has worked well in their mentoring relationships, how their approaches have evolved over time, and how they balance the demands of mentoring with other professional responsibilities. By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

Identify effective strategies and approaches used by experienced mentors to build strong, productive mentoring relationships.
Describe common challenges mentors encounter and discuss ways to adapt mentoring styles over time.
Recognize techniques for balancing mentoring responsibilities with other professional demands.
Reflect on the personal and professional rewards of mentoring and ways to remain focused on its meaningful outcomes. (1 CME credit)
