The Mychaleckyj Lab has published the first genome-wide association study on breast milk fatty acid composition funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The paper is entitled: “Multiplex genomewide association analysis of breast milk fatty acid composition extends the phenotypic association and potential selection of FADS1 variants to arachidonic acid, a critical infant micronutrient.”
Collaborators on this project include Dr. Bill Petri, Professor and Chief of Infectious Disease at UVA, as well as external collaborators at the International Center for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh; the Universities of Vermont and Oxford; and the Sanger Center, Cambridge.
