Mission

[wpv-autop]

Our mission is to support basic, translational, and clinical cancer research at the University of Virginia by supplying widely used assay services that can be utilized by all investigators.

[/wpv-autop]

The MITS Core is operated by dedicated University of Virginia faculty and staff with wide-ranging knowledge and technical expertise in molecular biology and cellular and molecular immunology. Our services are performed in strict accordance with thoroughly vetted standardized operating procedures, for reliable results. Included in each service, we return a description of methods, raw data, and finalized publication ready data, to each investigator.

We can perform assays from start to finish, delivering the finalized data to clinicians and investigators, thus circumventing the need to have a laboratory or dedicated staff for these services. Our services are scalable and malleable to meet your specific research needs.

We are here to help all UVA investigators, so please contact us and let us know how we can help you.

Acknowledgement

Our facility exists to enhance the scope and quality of scientific cancer research performed at UVA and is an integral part of the UVA translational and innovation research initiatives.

The Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) currently provides a 10% co-pay on MITS services for all its Cancer Center investigators. This co-pay may vary throughout the fiscal year.  Investigators who receive this financial assistance for core services should acknowledge both CCSG grant number 2P30CA044579-26 and the UVA MITS Core Facility services and equipment in all publications. Acknowledgement is vital to the Cancer Center Support Grant renewal and is used as a value-based metric in determining future funding.
