Treating Uveitic Glaucoma – American Academy of Ophthalmology
In this interview from AAO 2017, Dr. Peter Netland discusses management strategies for uveitic glaucoma in adults, including surgical, laser and medical therapies. He stresses that proper management of the uveitis is essential, and can significantly impact outcomes. Medical therapy options include immunomodulatory medications, which offer a steroid-free method to manage inflammation. Aqueous suppressants and prostaglandins can be used once the inflammation is under control. Surgical options include drainage implants and trabeculectomy, and both approaches offer a good method to control IOP.
