RAWtunda
What is RAWtunda?
RAWtunda is freely available application, a cross-platform tool that simplifies the conversion of spatial biology/pathology/ microscopy image files preserve spatial, temporal, and channel information as well as imaging metadata. RAWtunda is converting files from .mcd (IMC-Hyperion XTi), .ndpi (Hamamatsu), and Nanostring/Bruker CosMx, formats to valid OME-TIFF or TIFF file formats for further analysis.
Why was RAWtunda created?
In the field of spatial biology, researchers often face significant challenges when working with data generated from diverse platforms and software, each using different file formats. This lack of standardization can lead to inefficiencies, data compatibility issues, and unnecessary time spent on ways to try manual conversions – time that could otherwise be dedicated to analysis and discovery.
Motivated by these obstacles, we developed the RAWtunda app to streamline the process of file conversion in spatial biology/microscopy. The goal was to create a tool that is easy to use and robust, helping scientists and bioinformaticians seamlessly convert proprietary file formats into commonly used ones. By simplifying the process, we hope this app enables researchers to focus more on their science and less on technical barriers.
How to use RAWtunda?
1. Download a file
2. App launching
Double-click on RAWtunda installed application.
Note: Upon launching, the app requires approximately 40 seconds to fully initialize. Please wait during this time — no user interaction is needed until the interface is fully loaded.
This application provides an interface for interacting with files using a drag-and-drop window and a standard file browser button both built for streamlined input workflows.
3. Features
Drag-and-Drop Interface – effortlessly drag files into the main window to begin processing. Simply drag files into the window labeled “Drop Here” to start. Include one file at the time.
File Browse Button – users can alternatively use the “Browse” button to open a native file picker dialog and select files through the traditional method.
4. Start conversion
The conversion starts automatically upon uploading the files
