Katelyn Ahern was recently awarded an NIH F31, an Individual Predoctoral Fellows Award from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, which began on July 1, 2020. Katelyn is a Department of Pharmacology degree candidate in the lab of Dr. Thurl Harris. She studies the role of adipose tissue lipolysis in the development of hyperglycemia and insulin resistance during acute stress, such as critical illness, surgery, and trauma.
