Research Interests
Understanding mechanisms of ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury after lung transplantation to identifying therapeutic targets.
Research Description
My lab studies clinically relevant issues including lung ischemia-reperfusion injury after transplant, organ preservation, ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP), in vivo lung perfusion (IVLP) as a surgical treatment of ARDS, and organ injury after cardiopulmonary bypass. Specifically, we are focusing on mechanisms of vascular inflammation, endothelial barrier, edema, innate immune responses. Signaling pathways of interest include purinergic signalling, TRPV4, Panx1, and Piezo1 channels in vascular endothelium, epithelium and innate immune cells in the lung.
