Radiation Safety

Research involving exposure of humans to ionizing radiation may require additional approval from the University Radiation Safety Committee (Human Investigations Involving Radiation Exposure (HIRE) subcommittee) or Radioactive Drug Research Committee (RDRC). The committee provides guidance to determine when approval is required and specific informed consent language for circumstances when approval is not required.

When Radiation Safety Committee review is required, submission to the Institutional Review Board for Health Sciences Research will require a final approval letter from the committee.
