For more than 35 years, the Perinatal Continuing Education Program (PCEP) has enhanced the knowledge and skills of physicians, nurses, nurse midwives, respiratory therapists, and other providers of care for pregnant women and newborns. The PCEP, 4th edition workbooks have been brought up-to-date with leading-edge procedures and techniques.
Accreditation and Designation Statement
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing. The University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
The University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing designates this enduring material for a maximum of 56.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.TM Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

As a Joint Accreditation provider, the University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing, requires that all faculty presenters identify and disclose any off-label or experimental uses for pharmaceutical and medical device products. It is recommended that each clinician fully review all the available data on new products or procedures prior to clinical use.

How to Earn Credit
To prepare for the book exam each PCEP participant should study the material of each unit and then take the practice unit test for that unit. Practice unit tests can be repeated as many times as desired. When ready to take the book exam click on the link to ‘Book Exams’. Participants must pay the $15 fee for each of the book exam.
After passing each book exam at a level of 80% correct or greater, PCEP participants must then, register & pay, complete a short course evaluation, then claim credit and print/save your certificate.
Credit breakdown for the 4th Edition of PCEP books:
14.5 hours for Book I: Maternal and Fetal Evaluation and Immediate Newborn Care
16 hours for Book II: Maternal and Fetal Care
17 hours for Book III: Neonatal Care
9 hours for Book IV: Specialized Newborn Care
56.5 TOTAL CREDITS
