High-resolution imaging in live tissues- some examples
Salivary gland of a live, anesthetized mouse expressing LifeAct-GFP as a marker for F-actin. Secretory vesicles become coated with F-actin as they fuse to the apical plasma membrane during exocytosis. A macrophage is also seen doing its job!
3D volume showing actin and non-muscle myosin II coat secretory vesicles and the apical plasma membrane in secretory cells of the salivary gland.
Non-muscle myosin II forms a a striking polyhedral lattice (resembling a soccer ball!) on vesicle membranes during exocytosis
