Each year the department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology supports the local Virginia Piedmont Regional Science Fair for middle and high school students with a donation! Dan Gioeli, PhD an associate professor in MIC has been judging since 2007, including best of show. For a few years Dan also directed a UVA outreach program to area high schools to improve science fair participation.
