Lacie Werner investigates how soluble components affect the ability of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to activate human neutrophils during infection. Specifically, this research focuses on the finding that the human serum protein, C4b-binding protein (C4BP), binds to N. gonorrhoeae and suppresses neutrophil antigonococcal activity.
