Lacie Werner receives Wagner Fellowship!

Congratulations Lacie!! The Wagner fellows were selected by the Directors of Graduate Studies from a highly competitive pool based on their outstanding performance in graduate school thus far. In addition to a stipend, tuition, fees, and health and dental insurance, all Wagner fellows receive a one-time stipend bonus plus support for professional development activities. [more]

Lacie Werner investigates how soluble components affect the ability of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to activate human neutrophils during infection. Specifically, this research focuses on the finding that the human serum protein, C4b-binding protein (C4BP), binds to N. gonorrhoeae and suppresses neutrophil antigonococcal activity.
