Alana Castro-Gilliard, DO

Dr. Castro was born in Puerto Rico and raised both in Florida and in Puerto Rico. She first moved to Virginia to attend the University of Virginia (UVA) as an undergraduate where she fell in love with medical ethics and public health. She then attended Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. During her second year, she transferred to UVA and is very excited to become a Double Hoo! Her career interests include generalist practice, medical education, medical ethics, and public health.
She loves to spend time with her dog, Otis in her spare time and is game for new adventures in hiking, cooking, and dancing her way through Charlottesville. Dr. Castro is a big proponent of residency bonding and has thoroughly enjoyed going to wineries, breweries, farmers markets, book clubs, and dinner parties with her co-residents. She is an avid podcast and audiobook listener.
