April 7, 2015 by

Congratulations to Kathryn Marqueen, recipient of a 2015 Barry Goldwater Scholarship and to Nathaniel Oberholtzer for receiving the Hutcheson Award! Both students are pursing undergraduate research in Norbert Leitinger’s lab.

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship honors Senator Barry Goldwater, who served his country for 56 years as a soldier and statesman, including 30 years of service in the U.S. Senate. The purpose of the Barry Goldwater Scholarship is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers to those fields of academic study and research.

The Hutcheson Fund was created by J. Randolph and Rossie Carter Hutcheson to support summer cancer research experiences for undergraduate and graduate College students working in labs that collaborate with the Beirne Carter Center for Immunology Research at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
