Jonathan S. Black, M.D.
Dr. Black’s research interests include craniofacial distraction, 3D printed models and their use in craniofacial surgery and education, and plasticity of bone and cartilage. Particular areas of interest include craniofacial surgery, pediatric plastic surgery, international medicine, and partnerships with engineering to solve surgical problems.

Christopher A. Campbell, M.D.
Dr. Campbell’s research interests include patient reported and clinical outcomes after breast reconstruction, bio-integration of synthetic and biologic constructs for use in regenerative medicine, fat-derived stem cell research, evaluation of monitoring systems for use after microsurgical reconstruction, patient education and satisfaction after breast reconstruction and surgical prehabilitation.

Ava Chappell, M.D.
Dr. Chappell’s research interests include neuropathic pain management, peripheral nerve injury, surgical ethics, surgical education, improving access to surgical care and patient reported outcomes following upper extremity trauma. Areas of interest include peripheral nerve surgery, upper extremity reconstruction, lower extremity reconstruction, abdominal wall reconstruction and facial aesthetics.

Brent R. DeGeorge Jr., M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. DeGeorge’s research interests include cannabinoid biology for the management of acute and chronic pain, engineering solutions for joint replacement and repair, articular cartilage repair and regeneration techniques, patient-reported outcomes research and clinical trials, and allograft tendon, cartilage, and dermis bio-integration.

Amanda Silva, M.D.
Dr. Silva is a specialist in complex reconstructive surgery, utilizing advanced microsurgical techniques across a wide range of areas including breast reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, facial and head and neck reconstruction, and limb salvage procedures. Her clinical and research interests focus on enhancing patient selection, refining reconstructive techniques, and streamlining surgical workflows to optimize outcomes. In addition to her surgical expertise, Dr. Silva is deeply engaged in the professional development and well-being of plastic surgeons. She is also passionate about fostering collaboration and exploring the dynamics cooperation and competition (“co-opetition”) within the medical field.

John T. Stranix, M.D.
Dr. Stranix’s research efforts revolve around optimizing reconstructive surgical outcomes, improving postoperative patient satisfaction, and increasing access to reconstructive services among underserved populations. Particular areas of interest include breast cancer reconstruction, traumatic limb salvage, gender affirming procedures and physiologic lymphedema procedures.
