Several lines of active pre-clinical and clinical research are being pursued by investigators in the UVA Focused Ultrasound Cancer Immunotherapy Center. Research generally centers on applying different forms of focused ultrasound in combination with immunotherapies. Focused ultrasound may be deployed to immunomodulate the tumor microenvironment or enhance the delivery of drugs and genes under image-guidance. Molecular imaging and MRI are often used to monitor treatment efficacy.
