Rossymar (Ross) Rivera Cólon, PhD Candidate in Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology, has been awarded Third Place and Audience Choice Award in the 2025 Grad Thesis SLAM, hosted by PhD Plus and the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs at the University of Virginia.
Ross won one of the top honors for her engaging and impactful presentation, titled: “Giving T-Cells Their Superpowers Back” during the final competition on April 23, 2025. This achievement reflects the high caliber of research and communication skills they’ve cultivated in the Biomedical Sciences Program and School of Medicine. As part of this recognition, Ross will receive a cash prize of $1,000.
