Incoming first-year BIMS PhD students marked the beginning of their graduate school training by participating in a Welcome Lunch and Summer Orientation Zoom session on Monday, July 6th.
Associate Dean Janet Cross welcomed students and shared tips for being successful in graduate school during a global pandemic. During the summer, students will take part in remote or in person lab rotations and a preparatory course, which prepares students to take the Core Course at the end of August. David Kashatus, Coordinator of the Core Course, provided an overview of the 12-week course designed to expose first-year BIMS students to the fundamentals of biomedical science.
The new students had a chance to meet student leaders from the Graduate Biosciences Society (GBS), Graduate Recruitment Initiative Team (GRIT), and Women in Medical Sciences (WIMS).
