This summer BMG faculty are hosting two STRIVE (Short-Term Research Initiative for Visiting Educators) Scholars. STRIVE is a mutually beneficial opportunity for faculty from minority-serving institutions to partner with UVA faculty to pursue and develop long-term research opportunities. STRIVE is supported by the UVA Cancer Center.
Dr. Alice Walker, a Biology Instructor at Clark Atlanta University, works in Dr. Marty Mayo’s laboratory. Dr. Walker is a cancer researcher, teacher and mentor for undergraduate students in the Undergraduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (U-RISE).
Dr. Herman Fennell is hosted by Dr. Yuh-Hwa Wang’s laboratory. Dr. Fennell is an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at Hampton University. He studies prostate and breast cancer with a focus on identifying novel compounds in plants with anti-carcinogenic activity.
Please welcome Drs. Walker and Fennel!
