Andrew E. Muck, MD, MBA

Dr. Muck was appointed Chair of UVA’s Department of Emergency Medicine in 2024. Previous experience includes professor in Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and serving as a Critical Care Air Transport Physician in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Muck has overseen large clinical programs and medical education initiatives, contributing to both patient care and the training of future physicians. His background spans military service, academic medicine, and healthcare leadership.
Christopher P. Holstege, MD

Christopher P. Holstege, M.D. has served Student Health and Wellness since 2013. He also is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Virginia’s School of Medicine and Chief of the University of Virginia’s Division of Medical Toxicology, positions he has held since 1999. He has served as the Director of the Blue Ridge Poison Center. He established the Center of Clinical Toxicology that was formally recognized in 2001 by the School of Medicine, a 24/7/365 clinical medical service that provides care for poisoned patients. His clinical expertise pertaining to poisonings has resulted in his being called upon to assist in numerous criminal poisoning cases. Dr. Holstege has provided care for not only poisoned patients, but also serves as an active member of the emergency medicine faculty at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Gregory Saathoff is a psychiatrist who is a professor in Public Health Sciences and Emergency Medicine at UVA. He also serves as founding executive director of the University of Virginia’s Critical Incident Analysis Group (CIAG), and since 1996 has served as the FBI’s Conflict Resolution Specialist. He is the chief psychiatric consultant for the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Units and Crisis Negotiation Unit.
