Research Description
The primary focus of my research is to investigate the role of sphingolipid receptors (Sphingosine-1-Phosphate-1/3, S1P1 or S1P3) in kidney transplantation. To further explore the role of S1P1 and S1P3 on dendritic cells (DCs) in context of immune dependent transplant rejection (acute rejection). Our work suggests the lack of S1P3s on DCs prolongs graft survival due to the inability of DCs to mature to an inflammatory/danger response. The long term goal is to evaluate the role of S1P receptors and kinases mechanisms as related to transplantation - in context of adaptive immune response in acute and chronic transplantation rejection.
