Neural Mechanisms of Pattern Learning and Recognition in the Auditory System
Research Description
The Meliza Lab is interested in understanding the extraordinary ability of sensory systems to learn complex patterns in a diverse and unstable world. We are particularly interested in how the auditory system learns the acoustic structure of vocal communication signals early in life. We employ behavioral methods in concert with intracellular and extracellular physiology and computational modeling to address this question.
