Research Description
My research involves three collaborative projects. We are working with faculty in Mechanical Engineering to develop a new left ventricular assist pump using magnetic bearings. We also collaborate with faculty in Radiology and Biomedical Engineering on a new method using hyperpolarized He and Xe to perform functional imaging of the lungs using MRI. We are developing, with faculty in Electrical Engineering, a new, solid state, carbon dioxide sensor that could be used for monitoring respiration and environmental monitoring.
