Identifying and exploring the role of innate immunity, inflammasome, and interleukin-1 blockade in the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease
Research Description
Dr. Abbate and his team collaborate on, develop, and execute bench-to-bedside research exploring the impact of innate immunity and its role in cardiovascular disease and injury (ischemia, reperfusion, infection, heart failure, etc.). They are recognized for their translational work on Interleukin-1 and inflammasome-targeted treatments for acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, pericarditis, and myocarditis.
