Hi there! My name is Sage Royston. I hail from the rolling hills of northeast Georgia. I grew up in a very small town called Blairsville, GA, but there are many places in the state that feel like home to me. I grew up as an avid 4-H club member and have spent many summers and weekends in Eatonton, GA at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. I also am lucky to call Athens, GA, aka The Classic City, a home as well; I studied nutrition science and public health at The University of Georgia. I love learning and was so elated to be in higher education when I first went to college– I always said I wanted to be in school forever and I think I am on the right track for that! Outside of school, I foster practices of writing, painting, and textile work. I am a member of the Generalist Scholars Program here at UVA and am so lucky to be in a community that celebrates the work of primary care physicians. Though I am open to where life leads me, I have a strong desire to pursue family medicine and work as a rural physician in Appalachia. Before medical school, I worked at a very small clinic in Hiawassee, GA. Working there gave me so much gratitude and excitement to continue serving and advocating for rural care. I am so honored and humbled to be a part of this class and am looking forward to the many journeys to come.
