I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Montana, where I majored in physics and minored in biology. After a wonderful college experience and various illuminating clinical exposures, my eyes were set on medicine. When applying to medical school, I found UVA to be a special place with a friendly atmosphere, caring people, a great academic institution, and a beautiful town—all of which have continued to make for a wonderful medical education experience for me. I am particularly grateful for the opportunities and relationships the Generalist Scholars Program has opened up. Having access to quality primary care is vital to the health of a community, and the need will only grow in the coming years. The GSP provides a framework in which students truly interested in primary care can blossom and the program has demonstrated the School’s commitment to meeting a great need in the community.
Going forward, I plan to pursue a lifelong career in primary care through internal medicine, caring for and educating patients to the best of my abilities, while getting to know them as whole persons. Outside of academic and career pursuits I enjoy playing basketball and table tennis, as well as hiking, listening to music, and hanging out with friends.
