Chris Winstead-Derlega

Chris grew up at the beach’s of Virginia, and has spent the last decade learning, growing, and hiking the mountains around Charlottesville. He graduated from UVa in 2009 with a degree in Anthropology and Biology. Between graduate and medical school he worked for UVa’s Center for Global Health under Dr. Rebecca Dillingham. He began medical school in the fall of 2012.

His current interests are chronic disease global health research and wilderness medicine; in addition to all outdoor sports. Combining chronic disease and wilderness medicine defines the entirety of medicine for the majority of the globe. GSP provides the funding, the resources, and the faculty to support his pursuit of research during the course of his medical education. GSP is an intellectual community of scholars, but it is also a social community of support.
