My name is Sarah Dillon – I was born in Philadelphia but have lived in Richmond most of my life. I have 3 younger siblings and both of my parents are physicians – my mom is an anesthesiologist and my dad is an ER physician. I attended the College of William and Mary and majored in Neuroscience with a minor in Philosophy. I felt drawn to medicine while volunteering at free clinics during college but wanted more clinical experience and exposure to the realities of working as a physician. During my two gap years before medical school, I volunteered at another free clinic and worked as a scribe in an ER and a Cardiology office. These experiences solidified that a career in medicine was the right choice for me and I’m excited to be part of the Generalist Scholars Program at UVA. Outside of school, I love practicing yoga, traveling, and spending time with my family, friends, and dog. I recently attended a yoga teacher training program and plan to practice and teach yoga during medical school.
