2019: Ahmar Hashmi

October 19, 2015 by

Up to this point I have been a lifelong resident of New Jersey. I have been fortunate enough to have been born in Jersey City, which is considered to be one of the most diverse places in the US. This upbringing exposed me to a variety of cultural traditions which has spurred a desire for traveling that has yet been unfulfilled. I completed my undergrad at Rutgers with a concentration in Biochemistry and Biotechnology. My desire to pursue medicine as a career was fully realized as an upperclassman in college and reinforced by the volunteer and shadowing work I’ve done since graduating.

Medicine is important to me because I believe it will instill my life with meaning and I think this is especially true if I follow a path in primary care. This branch of medicine especially depends on forging significant and impactful relationships. I hope with enough time and diligence I will learn to be the type of physician who deserves the trust and friendship of his patients.
