Open positions for one postdoctoral fellow @ the Jomaa laboratory

The Jomaa lab  employs a combination of molecular biology, biochemical, and structural biology approaches to investigate molecular mechanisms regulating the protein synthesis machinery during cellular stress. In particular, we are interested in protein localization to mitochondria and how it is impacted in dormant cancer cells. Recent work has been published in Science, Nat Comms, Nat Struct Mol Biol.

The lab is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to join this young, energetic and fun group to obtain snapshots of the protein synthesis machinery together with the regulatory factors, using state of the art of techniques, including but not limited to, single particle cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) in addition to cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET).

A recent PhD graduate with experience in biochemistry and/or mammalian cell culture is desired. Expertise or knowledge with structural biology techniques is a plus.

Interested candidate should directly contact Dr. Ahmad Jomaa at vve5sr@virginia.edu.
