PGY4 and Chief Resident Natalie Hillerson was selected to attend the Association for Academic Pathology (AAPath) 2025 Annual Meeting in Denver, CO as a Kinney Scholar in July 2025. She shares this about the experience:

Natalie Hillerson (3rd from left) and her fellow Kinney Scholars.

“This was one of the most affirming experiences I’ve had so far in my residency training. I greatly enjoyed meeting incredible people in the field of academic pathology, both current and future pathologists. My fellow Kinney Scholars were a stellar group of people who I consider lifelong colleagues and friends. The Society of ’67 Board was composed of wonderful mentors who patiently, earnestly, and diligently answered our questions about our interests in academic pathology and gave invaluable advice as we progress into a career of leadership and education. Everyone at the meeting was so helpful and welcoming and I was able to make networking connections that will last throughout my career. The programming allowed me to explore many different topics in academic pathology and focus on those closest to my interests: residency recruitment and medical student education. I brought back a notebook full of ideas for our program at UVA and my future as an academic pathologist and educator. Thank you to AAPath and the Society of ’67 for this award and your generous support!”
